Under the Tuscan Sun

Post by Sebastian:
The trip to Cortona was on a train for 2 hours and 20 minutes. We got off in Cortona and got a taxi. We watched a special parade. I had fun watching it. They threw flags.
Today I went up a big mountain. Dad bought mineral water instead of normal water. I had a doughnut. It was delicious.

Post by Boris:
I got a photo with some people dressed in medieval clothing yesterday when we arrived. They were in a special parade in Cortona. Each family was led into the centre of the city square by drummers from different directions. Then the joined in one big parade. There were children and ladies and lords. There were knights and archers too. Then the flag throwers came in and performed too. It was really cool to see. Each family presented a candle and was blessed, then they walked to a church up the steep hill.
This morning we walked to the top of the mountain. It was really steep.mhalfway up was a church called Santa Margherita. It was built in 1304! There were Sunday services on and doughnut venders there. The kids got doughnuts.
Cortona is very different to Rome. The town is inside a wall. It is ancient and dates back to 600BC. It is like walking around inside a living castle. Mum and Dad want to move here!
